A duct (duckt) is a large channel through which air passes in heating, cooling, or exhaust systems. There are two types of ducts: warm air-supply ducts and cold air return ducts. Many homes lose between ten and thirty percent of their heated and cooled air because of duct leaks. Duct leaks can also be a source of harmful dust, excess humidity, and toxins such as pesticides, combustion by-products, and radon (RAY-DON).
