WICHITA, Kansas -- Crime Stoppers of Wichita/Sedgwick County is teaming up with the Wichita Police Department to increase its reward for tips on cold case homicides.
This week's case they're focusing on is 19-year-old Justin Cook.
Cook was shot and killed on January 25, 2009.
Cook was attending a party at the Cambridge Suites hotel in the 700 block of South Main Street.
A second party was also being held at the same location.
A fight broke out in the hotel parking lot between several rival gang members who were attending both parties.
As Cook and his girlfriend were leaving the party, an unknown suspect fired one shot at his vehicle, striking him in the face.
He was taken by ambulance to Via Christi St. Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
A tip on the crime that leads to an arrest will receive $2,000, twice the normal Crime Stoppers reward on such cases.
Anyone with information about this or any felony crime is urged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously, either by phone at 316-267-2111 or by text message by sending their tip to CRIMES (274637) and beginning their text message with TIP217, or on the web at
