GARDEN CITY, Kansas -- A 27-year-old Garden City man is dead after a car collision Tuesday afternoon on a slick road two miles south of Garden City.Matthew Anderson was attempting to pass another vehicle over a bridge on Highway 83 two miles south of Garden City.
Authorities say Anderson realized he didn't have enough time to pass and veered back into his lane, over-corrected and lost control on the slick bridge surface.
Anderson’s 2005 Honda Civic struck a 2007 Mercury Milan head-on.
Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lane.
Anderson was not wearing a seat belt and declared dead at the scene.
The driver and a passenger in the Mercury were taken to a Garden City hospital in serious condition.
