SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kansas -- Police say the deaths of a husband and wife in South Hutchinson Sunday were the result of a murder-suicide.
Neighbors heard gunshots coming from a home at 229 East Avenue C shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday.
Officers from the South Hutchinson Police Department and the Reno County Sheriff's Office were sent to the scene.
They found the bodies of Paul B. Cooper, 42, and Sarah J. Cooper, 41, inside the residence.
Police Chief Scott Jones says the husband and wife had been arguing into the early morning hours.
Jones says Paul Cooper killed his wife with a high-powered rifle and then turned the gun on himself.
