WICHITA, Kansas -- Wichita police say a 31-year-old man accidentally shot himself Tuesday night.
It happened in the 4700 block of North Sullivan around 9:05 p.m.
Police say the man had just purchased a new gun.
"As he was handling the handgun, the gun discharged and put a bullet through his left hand," said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.
The 31-year-old man was transported to Wesley Medical Center by private vehicle.
