RENO COUNTY, Kansas -- The Reno County Sheriff's Department responding to a fatal accident Tuesday morning just west of Arlington on K-61 and Hodge Road.

When they arrived, they found a 2007 Toyota Corolla upside down on the train tracks.

Fire units had to use the jaws of life to free 71-year-old Lloyd Patterson from Kingman.

He was taken by ambulance to a Hutchinson hospital where he died.

Sheriff's deputies say the vehicle was northbound on Hodge Road when Patterson failed to stop at K-61.

He crossed the roadway, struck and sign and landed in a ditch by some railroad tracks.

The say a medical condition may have contributed to the accident.
