WICHITA, Kansas (KSN) – A Wichita man has been sentenced to more than 12 years behind bars for a deadly New Year’s shooting in the early hours of 2012.
A judge sentenced Joshua Martin to 147 months in prison on Friday. Martin pleaded guilty to second degree murder and criminal discharge of a firearm in November.
Martin admitted to opening fire into a car fleeing from a New Year’s Eve party in the 6400 block of S. Madison Court, killing a passenger in the car, 23-year-old Nathanial Clark.
Investigators say Clark arrived at the party with two others after a friend called them telling them he needed help after he lost a fist fight at the party. The three quickly got back into their car and tried to flee when a large group of people at the party started running towards them.
Martin was the focus of a city-wide manhunt, with his photo posted on electronic billboards, but he turned himself into authorities after a few hours.
