DERBY, Kansas -- Authorities say a medical condition led to an accident that sent a 55-year-old Thomas Fowler to the hospital in critical condition. He later died.
The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Monday near the intersection of 63rd and Buckner.
According to witnesses, Fowler was southbound on Buckner approaching 63rd Street.
He went through a red light, veered to the right off the road, sideswiped a tree, struck a culvert, and went airborne.
Authorities say Fowler encountered a medical condition prior to the accident, and his death wasn't the result of the accident.
