WICHITA, Kansas – Police are looking for a suspect accused of shooting to death and employee and a 79-year-old customer inside a local convenience store.
Marquis J. Marshall, 19, is considered armed and dangerous.
"The bottom line is if you observe him or know where he is at, don't approach. Call 911 immediately," said Lt. Scott Heimerman.
The shooting happened towards the front of the Dollar General in the 4600 block of E. 13th St. just after 8 p.m. Friday.
One woman was about to walk into the store, when she saw all of the commotion.
"We seen the police get out, when seen him pull out his gun and then the other police was coming and girl come running, and she said mama get out of here, you don't know if they still in there. So I asked I was like so what's going on because we trying to go up in the store and she told us two dead bodies were up in there," said neighbor, Trina Warren-Lawrence.
Zachary Hunt, 22, and Henry Harvey, 79, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Hunt was an employee.
"The kid was real polite, very helpful, if I ran a business he would be the person that I would like to represent my business because he was very helpful," said Charles Knox, a frequent shopper at Dollar General.
Harvey was a customer.
Police say they have found no connection between Marshall and either of the two victims.
They would not say what evidence they've gathered that has led them to consider Marshall the suspect.
"People are not going to stop looking for him, he need to turn himself in, and you know deal with the consequences. He took two lives," added Warren-Lawrence.
They also are not sure why Marshall opened fire.
"As far as a motive, we have no idea. It is very early at this point in the investigation. To be able to put a motive on we can't do that at this point," said Heimerman.
As the search for Marshall continues, neighboring businesses are continuing to think about the victims.
Wesley Gallardo manages the Easy Home store next door, "Our hearts go out to the victims families and you know just the holiday season, you know things like that happening, its just terrible."
Marshall is short and slender, 5'7", 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with any information is encouraged to call 911 immediately.
