MULVANE, Kansas -- An undercover investigation lands a Wichita woman in jail on charges of prostitution.
Mulvane Police say she was soliciting for customers at the Kansas Star Casino.
Sumner County Jail released this mugshot of Starkell Franks, 25. She was booked into the Sumner County Jail on charges of prostitution.
The Mulvane Police Chief tells KSN News it all started last Friday in the parking lot of the Kansas Star Casino.
They said was placing her business cards onto the windshield of dozens of cars, where she was advertising for sex in exchange for cash.
"Anytime that we observe what we believe to be potential illegal activity," said Bill Miskell, Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission Public Information Officer. "We take the necessary steps that our agents have been trained to take."
Mulvane Police had to go undercover to catch her in the act.
They called the number on the business card, arranging for a time to meet with her at the Hampton Inn & Suites.
"She agreed to perform a sex act for a certain amount of money and we arrested her," said Mulvane Police Chief David Williams.
Kent Hixson is the administrator for the City of Mulvane.
He tells KSN News that incidents like this rarely happens in the community.
New reports show that the number of call volume and crimes are actually down in the city.
"I must say that the call volume isn't anywhere near what we expected given the size of the Kansas Star Casino and the number of people that can be out there at any given time," said Kent Hixson.
Hixson credits several law enforcement agencies for working together, making sure it's a safe environment for customers at the casino and for people living in Mulvane.
Police say she bonded out of jail. Her bail was set at $5,000.
They believe there may have been a man working with the woman, but at this time no other arrests have been made.
