KECHI, Kansas -- Authorities have identified the victim in a hit and run accident.
Dr. William Howard Whiteside, 65, was found dead in a ditch west of 61st and Oliver early Friday morning.
Kechi police began searching for him after his wife reported him missing.
She says he went running Thursday night and never returned home.
About an hour after his wife called authorities, Kechi officers found his body.
Police say a driver who may have been involved in the accident came forward several hours later.
Deputies and detectives are continuing their investigation.
Dr. Whiteside owned College Hill Family and Pediatric Specialty Clinic.
His funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, April 26, at Eastside Community Church, 14242 E. 21st Street North.
