INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- Wichita will not be the host city for the preliminary round of the men's basketball tournament in 2014 or 2015.

Officials say the competition for the tournament is tough.

"I think it would have helped if the arena was bigger, it's not," said Bob Hanson, President, Wichita Sports Commission. "It would help if we were a bigger city, but we're not. I think we did a good job in submitting the bid and those types of things."

The second- and third-round sites in 2014 will be Buffalo, NY; Milwaukee; Orlando, FL; Raleigh, NC; San Antonio; San Diego; Spokane, WA; and St. Louis.

The regional sites in 2014 will be Anaheim, CA, Indianapolis and Memphis, TN, and New York City.

The Final Four will be played at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The second- and third-round sites in 2015 are Charlotte, NC; Columbus, Ohio; Jacksonville, FL; Louisville, KY; Omaha, NE; Pittsburgh, Portland, OR; and Seattle.

Cleveland, Houston, Los Angeles and Syracuse, NY will be the regional sites in 2015.

The Final Four will be held in Indianapolis.

First-round games will continue to be played in Dayton, Ohio, both years.
