WICHITA, Kansas -- Wichita police will conduct a special traffic enforcement throughout Thanksgiving week.
Officers from several agencies will be paid overtime with a grant paid for by KDOT.
It will run through Sunday, November 25th and focus on removing drunk drivers from the street.
"In 2011, we had 26 deaths on Wichita roadways, and of those deaths, 13 can be related directly to drunk drivers," said Lt. Joe Schroeder, Wichita Police Department.
The enforcement is the first of three that will run throughout the year.
