TOPEKA, Kansas -- The winter storms that moved through Kansas in February cost the state $6 million according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

The department says 575 trucks were used to clear Kansas roads.

Over 850,000 gallons of brine was used to pre-treat roads, and over 32,250 tons of salt and sand were used on top of that.

Nearly 50,000 hours were logged by 1,200 KDOT employees.

Over the course of the storm, nearly 74,000 calls were made to 511.

Road conditions were viewed 17,346 times by mobiles devices to 511.ksdot.org.
