KANSAS CITY (FoxKansas.com) -- Do you have the X factor?
Producers of the hit FOX primetime reality show are scouring the country during open call auditions, including a stop in Kansas City on March 14. During last year's show, Melanie Amaro was crowned the season one winner and received a $5 million recording contract and appeared in a Pepsi commercial with singer Elton John that ran during the Super Bowl. Her album is due out later this year.
Contestants have three ways to enter the audition process:
- Submit an online audition on March 1. Contestants can do so by clicking here.
- Visit a myStudio HD Recording Studio on March 1, with sites scheduled to be open in New Jersey (Westfield Garden State Plaza); Phoenix (Arizona Mills Mall); Nashville (Coolsprings Center Mall); Honolulu (Pearlridge Center). The sites scheduled to open on March 9 are in Los Angeles (Westfield Culver City) and in New England (Foxwood Resort Casino). The studio will visit Las Vegas on March 14 (Planet Hollywood Resort).
- Show up for an open call audition starting on March 14 in Kansas City at Kemper Arena; March 22 in Austin at Frank Erwin Center; April 20 in San Francisco at Cow Palace; and May 1 in Greensboro, North Carolina at Greensboro Coliseum.
The show recently made news when it parted ways with its host and two judges, including Paula Abdul. Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid will return as judges when the show returns this fall.
“We wanted to change a few things this year, so starting with the auditions, we’ve torn up the rulebook again. Even if you have management you can still enter, and we are making it easier by extending the online auditions and taking the MyStudio booths to even more cities. You can enter as many times as you want and come to any of the cities, too. We’re here to discover stars from all music styles including groups. I really believe a group can win this show!” – Simon Cowell, judge and mentor, THE X FACTOR.
“In the music industry, when you’re looking for new talent you can discover it anywhere. THE X FACTOR is opening this up to go further than anyone has before, and that’s what it takes, so I can’t wait to see what amazing talent we might find. I urge people to go out and audition, this is the real deal.” – L.A. Reid, judge and mentor, THE X FACTOR
