After two schools with hundreds of students inside were severely damaged by the deadly tornado in Moore, Wichita school leaders say they are working to add more safe room storm shelters to protect students and staff when there's a tornado warning.

Storm clean up begins

An apartment complex was bombarded by large hail, after a tornado touched down.

In parts of Wichita just about no buildings escaped the wrath of the storm as high wind coupled with hail smashed windows.

The storm left a trail of damage as it moved across the city to the northeast side. Here's a look at the cleanup facing residents and landlords.

Today law enforcement, their families and Wichitans remembered the men and women who've given their lives in the line of duty. They say it's a reminder of the daily risk taken when putting on that badge.

Officials say animal cruelty charges could be filed against the owners.

Sgt. 1st Class Trenton L. Rhea, 33, of Oakley, Kansas died May 15, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, after drowning while attempting to cross a body of water during combat operations.

Today some well-earned recognition for the heroes who saved a Wichita woman's life when her home was on fire. That homeowner got to meet the person who sent for help when she needed it most.
