WICHITA, Kansas -- A new company offers a smart phone app that's essentially a season pass for movie tickets.
It's called Movie Pass and it could save movie fanatics money and increase the bottom line for local theatres.
"I thought well that's kinda neat let me look into that and I read up about it and thought, that's a great concept/idea I'm gonna give it a shot," says Lucas Hershberger, who is the station's operations manager.
Lucas heard about something called 'Movie Pass,' allowing you to see as many movies at the theatre per month you want for thirty bucks.
"I click on a theatre, it'll show the movies and show times if I want to see it at 10:25, it'll load and it will put the money on the movie card for the ticket and that's it!" explains Lucas.
Local movie theatres are happy to have what they believe will be extra business.
"They've already paid for the movie so I would assume they would buy concession items which is where movie theatres make their money, is on the concessions," says the manager of the Derby Plaza Theatre Lori Armstrong.
Extra business from a source that makes a visit to the movies simple.
"With the Hollywood movie money you do, you have to enter in the numbers and sometimes it's a check or credit card but this is just something you'll have to swipe and you're done. That's good," explains Armstrong.
Lucas agrees.
A swipe of his movie pass card had him in his theatre seat in under a minute.
"I was really hesitant, I thought it's too good to be true but it works! What can I say?" asks Lucas.
To try Movie Pass you need to sign up for a year-long contract at $30 a month.
You can see one movie per day and it allows for one viewing of each movie.
