WICHITA, Kansas -- The person in charge of The Salvation Army in Wichita is leaving.
Major Douglas Rowland, Wichita City Commander, will move to The Salvation Army's Kansas and Western Missouri headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, as of February.
Rowland and his wife, Major Janet Rowland, have been in Wichita for five years.
"During the years the Rowlands have been in Wichita, they have successfully led the Salvation Army's charitable programs through a difficult and changing period in our local and national economy," said The Salvation Army in Wichita's current Advisory Board Chair Mr. Wayne Wallace. "They did this while preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and finding ways to meet human needs in the Wichita community without discrimination."
The new Wichita City Commander will be Major Glen Caddy. He and his wife, Major Carole Caddy, will arrive in February.
