GREENWOOD COUNTY, Kansas -- A 26-year-old Howard woman was killed in accident Sunday afternoon about a mile east of Beaumont in Greenwood County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a driver of a Dodge Magnum and semi were attempting to pass each other going east on Highway 400.

At the same time, the truck driver started to pass another vehicle.

The driver of the Dodge tried to avoid the collision with the semi and went into oncoming westbound traffic hitting a Ford Taurus driven by 26-year-old Tracie Leonard of Howard.

Leonard and her 15-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital.  Leonard later died.

Two of the three passengers in the Dodge Magnum were taken to the hospital to be checked.

The driver of the semi wasn't hurt.
