WICHITA (FoxKansas.com) -- As the nation paused to remember the devastating terror attacks on U.S. soil 10 years ago, Wichita police were responding to a suspicious device call at Town East Mall Sunday morning that raised concern.
Law enforcement officers found something not so suspicious when they arrived: a cooler containing several cans of beer.
"Most of the time these things turn out to be harmless, but you just don't know in this day and age," Wichita police Lt. Sam Hanley said.
A maintenance worker called police shortly before 11 am when the employee discovered a plastic cooler that was taped up. Police summoned their bomb squad unit to the scene and used an X-ray to determine the cooler's contents. When police opened the cooler, they found a case of beer inside.
It was not immediately clear who left the cooler behind. No injuries were reported.
