WICHITA, Kansas -- The Sedgwick County Sheriff's office is investigating a homicide after a woman was found at 2100 West 55th Street South Sunday morning.
Officers responded after a motorist called 911 saying they found the body of a woman in the ditch.
Investigators have identified the victim as 38-year-old Amber Kostner.
Kostner was transported to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, but at this point, it looks like blunt force trauma will be the cause of Kostner's death.
Meanwhile, on late Sunday sheriff's investigators located a 41-year-old Anson Bernhardt in connection to Kostner's death.
Officials say Kostner lived with Bernhardt since the spring.
He was booked into the Sedgwick County Detention Facility on the charge of murder in the first degree.
Investigators say they do not believe that the ditch was the crime scene and are looking at multiple locations to piece together what happened late Saturday night.
"Preliminary, we think there might have been an argument which then led up to the death, but that's very preliminary. We're still investigating, still trying to find out," said Major Michael Oliver, Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office.
The case will be presented to the district attorney's office for formal charges later this week.
