Watchful neighbor helps police catch burglary suspect

WICHITA, Kansas -- A watchful neighbor helped police catch a burglary suspect.

The burglary happened at about 11:15 a.m. Monday at a home in the 100 block of North St. Clair.

A neighbor in the 200 block of North Athenian chose to call 911 after seeing a 15-year-old man walking with a wheelbarrow down the street.

Officers stopped the man and found a rifle, drugs, and electronic items inside of the wheelbarrow.

"It wouldn't of been solved had that neighbor not followed up and called the suspicious character in," said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.

Officers found property belonging to the home on St. Clair.

The 15-year-old man was booked into the juvenile detention facility, and the property was returned to the homeowner.

Police say the aren't aware of other burglaries in the area.
