WICHITA, Kansas -- Wichita city officials gave an update Thursday morning to the winter storm.
Joe Pajor, Wichita Public Works, said the city was caught up until about 3 a.m.
That is when thundersnow moved through the city dumping about 2 inches of snow per hour.
"We had white out conditions and near white out conditions several times during the night and as a result we simply got behind clearing routes," said Pajor.
Pajor says they have extra equipment, and 100 workers are splitting shifts.
He says the storm is a top 20 all time snow event for Wichita.
As for Wichita police, Lt. Doug Nolte says they have no 4-wheel-drive police cars.
He says their police cars have been sliding all over, and the department has had five minor accidents since Wednesday.
