WICHITA, Kansas -- Authorities are investigating a fatal accident south of Wichita involving a semi and a GMC Yukon.
It happened just after 3:30 p.m. Friday between 111th and 119th Street South and Broadway, just north of the Sedgwick/Sumner County line.
Witnesses told investigators the Yukon was traveling north on Broadway but kept drifting into the southbound lane.
The sheriff's office says the Yukon finally went all the way into the southbound lane and hit a tanker truck head-on.
A 42-year-old Wichita man was the only person in the SUV. He died at the scene. The truck driver had minor injuries and refused treatment.
Friday evening traffic was detoured around the accident scene.
