WICHITA, Kansas -- A Wichita police car was damaged early Sunday morning trying to avoid a deer that had been hit.
An officer was responding to a call when they noticed a deer in the road.
The officer tried to switch lanes and swerved.
The car lost control and spun hitting a cable barrier.
Wichita police spokesman Lt. Doug Nolte said the officer was ok.
Lt. Nolte wanted to remind drivers that deer this time of year presents a hazard.
"If you hit a deer, you do need to stop and report that to local law enforcement. If possible, if traffic allows, it's helpful to get the deer out of the roadway. Law enforcement can help. We just need to know about it."
