WICHITA, Kansas -- Wichita police are looking into an attempted abduction.

It happened near the Gordon Parks Academy in the 2200 block of East 25th Street North Thursday morning.

Wichita police say a girl was walking to school when she says a man approached her and asked if she wanted a ride to school.

She said no, but he chased her on foot and then got in a car and followed her.

The student arrived at school and reported it.

"A short time later, officers located the vehicle and the individual inside the vehicle. They did take him down to EMCU for questioning. At this time, he was not arrested for anything criminally related to this situation, however, he did have a warrant on a traffic issue that he was arrested for," said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.

The suspect has only been booked on an outstanding warrant, and the case remains under investigation.
