EL DORADO, Kansas -- A woman who had admitted to helping kill an Augusta woman last year learned Thursday how long she will spend behind bars.

Lyndsey Giovinazzo was sentenced to 25 years to life for her role in the death of Loyce Cody, a special education teacher.

Investigators say Giovinazzo helped Cody's grandson, Jacob Hoyt strangle Cody.

The two then stole her car and debit card.

She had tried to change her guilty plea, but the judge denied it.

Jacob Hoyt's trial is scheduled for January 14.
