Recap: Mercer vs. Georgia State

Macon, GA (Sports Network) - Justin Cecil paced all scorers with 19 points as the Mercer Bears took down the Georgia State Panthers 64-59 in second round action of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at University Center.

Langston Hall tallied 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists for Mercer (23-11), while Jakob Gollon added 10 points.

For Georgia State (22-12), Devonta White scored 18 points and Jihad Ali notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. James Fields added 14 points for the Panthers.

Mercer shot 47.8 percent in the first half to take a 28-18 lead into the break. Georgia State made only six field goals in the opening stanza.

The Panthers improved their shooting to 42.4 percent after intermission to cut into the Bears' lead. A White jumper for Georgia State tied the game at 51-all with 4:01 remaining, but Mercer answered with Cecil bucket and it would never relinquish the lead.

Mercer held on to win despite committing a game-high 15 turnovers. The Bears will await the conclusion of the second round to see who it matches up with in the quarterfinals.
