Recap: Toronto vs. Detroit
Dunedin, FL (Sports Network) - Ryan Schimpf smacked a grand slam as a part of a seven-run fifth inning that the Toronto Blue Jays used to take a 13-8 decision over the Detroit Tigers in spring training action.
Kevin Ahrens added a solo home run and knocked in a pair while Colby Rasmus also had two RBI for Toronto. Henderson Alvarez allowed three runs on eight hits and walk in a four-inning start for the Blue Jays, who open their regular season on Thursday at Cleveland.
Miguel Cabrera had a two-run homer and Danny Worth hit a solo shot for Detroit.
Max Scherzer got the start for the Tigers and gave up nine runs -- seven earned -- on 11 hits and three walks through 4 1/3 frames.
