Renton, WA (Sports Network) - The Seattle Seahawks signed veteran kicker Ryan Longwell Wednesday and placed kicker Steven Hauschka on injured reserve.

The 38-year old Longwell, who has not played in the league this season, last handled kicking duties with the Vikings in 2011. Longwell has years of postseason experience with the Packers (1997-98, 2001-04) and Vikings (2008-09) and connected on 83.2 percent of his field goal attempts in nine seasons with Green Bay and six seasons with Minnesota.

Hauschka strained his calf muscle in Sunday's Wild Card victory over the Washington Redskins, but managed to nail 29-yard and 22-yard field goals despite the injury. Longwell won the spot after the Seahawks had four kickers work out for the team on Tuesday.
