Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward left in the second period of Sunday's 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers with a leg injury.

At the 8:56 mark of the frame, he was setting up to stop a point shot and fell to the ice after the puck was deflected out of the way.

Play was stopped and Ward was eventually helped off the ice. A bit before the injury, he was crashed into by teammate Joe Corvo, who was trying to defend against a rush by Jack Skille.

Dan Ellis came into the net and finished the win with 19 saves.

Coming into the game, Ward was 8-6-1 with a 2.93 goals against average in 16 appearances.
