Approximately 106.5 million people tuned in to watch Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints win Super Bowl XLIV over the Indianapolis Colts, making it the most watched event in television history.

The game, a 31-17 contest that saw the Saints win their first title in franchise history, beat out the last episode of M*A*S*H, which drew 105.97 million viewers in 1983.

The viewership for this Super Bowl was up eight percent from 2009's contest between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals.
