Cargill working to clean-up from fire

DODGE CITY, Kansas - The Cargill beef packing plant in Dodge City is expected to resume production tomorrow following a fire in the kill floor area Monday night.

Nearly 1,000 employees were evacuated, and firefighters took several hours to put out all the hotspots.

The plant is operating in a clean-up mode today. 

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Damage to the plant is currently estimated at approximately $250,000, and consists of roofing materials, insulation and some electrical conduit.

More than 2,700 people work at the southwest Kansas plant.
